Background
C Street Advisory Group has brought on Deneese Walia Levin to serve as Managing Director of its Law Firm Optimization practice, adding depth to the firm’s advisory work covering law firm operations, technology adoption and talent management. Levin is based in the firm’s Chicago office.
Before joining C Street, Levin spent more than 20 years as an attorney and operational leader at a major global law firm, where she held a partnership position and led knowledge management, market strategy and business development for its international debt finance group. Under her leadership, that practice expanded to over 450 lawyers and earned a reputation as one of the top debt finance groups worldwide. She was responsible for building the operational backbone behind that growth, overseeing everything from training programs to early-stage AI tools and multiple technology vendor partnerships.
Levin’s responsibilities at C Street will span advising law firm leadership on business development, succession planning, technology integration and broader growth strategy. She will also play a key role in expanding the firm’s optimization practice and will work directly with managing partners and leadership committees to guide operational change. Her hire coincides with C Street’s plans to double the size of its Chicago team over the coming year.
C Street’s founder and chief executive said that understanding law firms from the inside is essential to advising them effectively, calling Levin’s background a significant addition to the firm’s capabilities. The company’s chief strategy officer echoed that sentiment, describing Levin as someone who has spent her career turning strong legal practices into well-run institutions.
Levin started her legal career as a corporate associate before making partner in 2009, where she worked on large-scale financing deals and mergers and acquisitions for institutional clients. She earned her law degree from the University of Chicago and her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
