Background-

Frontline Managed Services has acquired KL Software Technologies and its affiliate KLoBot to launch an AI-focused business for law firms.

The St. Louis-based provider will fold KL Software’s engineering and AI expertise into a unit called Frontline Intelligent Applications.

The unit brings together strategic advisory, professional services, managed services and connected legal applications. It aims to help firms design, run and improve the technology behind their operations.

The deal builds on an existing partnership and brings both companies under one roof. It pairs Frontline’s four decades of support for law firm operations with KL Software’s Microsoft Cloud and software engineering work.

The unit will cover four areas: Microsoft ecosystem and document management strategy, implementation of Microsoft 365, Azure, iManage and Copilot, ongoing platform management, and KL Software’s tools, including KLapper, Legal101, netDocShare and imDocShare.

KL Software founder Ragav Jagannathan will lead the portfolio and oversee product strategy, engineering and software delivery. He brings 25 years of SharePoint experience and has contributed to more than 300 implementations for Am Law 100 firms and Fortune 100 legal departments.

Frontline CEO Tim Britt said mixing his firm’s knowledge with KL Software’s engineering and AI skills opens a chance to do much more than add technology features.

Law firms face rising pressure to build AI and automation into the tools they use. The deal reflects a wider push by legal service providers to combine advisory, engineering and managed services into single offerings.
