Scottish law firm Brodies has recorded its 16th consecutive year of growth, prompting a firmwide bonus of 5 per cent for hundreds of staff. The firm’s latest results show full-year revenues of £138.8 million, up 11 per cent on the previous year, reflecting strong performance across its core practice areas.
Operating profit for the year to the end of April rose to £54.8 million, up from just over £50 million, while cash balances at year end stood at £30.1 million, up from £23.7 million a year earlier. Profit per equity partner reached £930,000 for the year.
All of the firm’s core practice areas, including banking and finance, corporate and commercial, dispute resolution and risk, personal and family, and real estate, contributed to the double-digit growth. Edinburgh-headquartered Brodies employs around 120 partners and close to 950 people across Scotland, Leeds and London.
The firm continued investing in people through the year, adding four new lateral partner appointments, with all eligible colleagues set to receive the firmwide 5 per cent bonus. Brodies also expanded its UK footprint by opening a new office in Leeds and adding capacity to its Glasgow office.
Managing partner Stephen Goldie said the firm invested in people during the year, with the new partner appointments reflecting its focus on listening to clients and meeting their expectations for specialist legal services. He said the calibre of senior lawyers joining the firm underlined its ability to attract and retain top talent, while the expanded Glasgow office and new Leeds base reflected its commitment to Scotland and its UK clients.
Goldie added that technology remained a key priority, with the firm continuing to introduce new tools and explore the benefits of AI, noting that clients increasingly expect the expertise of its people blended with AI capabilities.
