  • Trio rounds off firm’s strengthened leadership across major legal specialisms.

Key Facts-

  • Monks leads Care, Portlock leads Family, Rathour leads Criminal Department.
  • JWP Solicitors, founded in Yorkshire, ranks among the region’s top law firms.

Background-

JWP Solicitors has named Lois Monks as Head of the Care Department and Melissa Portlock as Head of the Family Department, rounding off a series of senior leadership changes across the firm.

The appointments come after Narinder Rathour took on the role of Head of the Criminal Department earlier this year.

Together, the three appointments complete a strengthened Head of Department structure at the firm, setting up JWP Solicitors for its next stage of growth with experienced leadership across its core legal specialisms. The changes also highlight the firm’s continued focus on growing talent from within its own team.

Gareth Long, Managing Director at JWP Solicitors, said Monks, Portlock and Rathour have shown strong commitment and expertise throughout their time with the firm.

He added that nurturing people internally has always been part of the firm’s approach, and said he is confident all three will keep building on the strong reputations their departments already hold.

Monks joined JWP Solicitors as a trainee solicitor and has since worked her way up to become a Director at the firm. She holds Children Panel accreditation and specialises in representing children, parents, and other family members in complex child care and private law matters. She also received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Business Power Awards.

Portlock joined the firm bringing wide experience across Family Law, Legal Aid, Injunctions, and Private Law matters. She holds Resolution Accreditation covering Children and Domestic Abuse cases and sits on the North, East and West Yorkshire Resolution Committee.

Rathour joined JWP Solicitors after more than two decades working in criminal law and has served as a High Court Advocate, handling complex cases including murder, terrorism and international extradition proceedings.
