Background:

Slater Heelis, one of the north west’s longest-established law firms, has officially opened a new full-service office in the heart of Chester as part of its ongoing regional growth strategy. Located on St John Street, the new branch will offer the firm’s complete range of legal services while providing enhanced support to its existing Chester-based clients.

The 250-year-old firm, which already has offices in Greater Manchester and Sci-Tech Daresbury, has reached a key milestone with its new Chester branch. The office boosts its regional presence, combines local knowledge with legal expertise, and is expected to create jobs and encourage collaboration in Chester’s legal and business community.

Managing partner Rachel Fletcher described the launch as a natural progression for the firm. She said Chester’s heritage and progressive spirit “mirrors our own”, adding that the firm is “not just opening an office; we’re joining a community.” Fletcher noted that early engagement with local professionals has already sparked conversations around partnerships and cross-referrals.

Clients in Chester can now access the firm’s full suite of services, including family law, crime and regulatory, corporate and commercial, private client, property, employment, dispute resolution, and personal injury.

The expansion comes during a period of strong recognition for Slater Heelis. The firm has been listed in The Times Top 250 Law Firms for 2026 for the fifth year, with praise for its family law team. It is also recommended in 11 areas by The Legal 500 2026 and has strong rankings in Chambers UK 2026.

With its new Chester base, Slater Heelis aims to deliver faster local response times, increased face-to-face access and streamlined support for individuals, businesses and community organisations across the city.
