Background-
Farleys Solicitors, based in Padiham and part of Lawfront, has bought Clitheroe based Houldsworth Solicitors for an undisclosed sum. The deal adds to Farleys’ growing presence across Lancashire and gives the firm more capacity to serve individuals, families and businesses throughout Ribble Valley and nearby areas.
Houldsworth Solicitors traces its roots back to 1817 and has served the Clitheroe area for generations. Every member of staff at Houldsworth will stay on under the new ownership. Clients keep the same team while gaining access to a larger firm with more resources and broader legal expertise.
Amanda Hall, managing director at Houldsworth Solicitors, said joining Farleys felt like the right next step. She said Houldsworth has been part of the Clitheroe and Ribble Valley community for many years, and keeping existing client relationships intact mattered most during the move. She added that the team can now offer clients a wider range of services while still delivering the same local, personal approach.
Farleys managing partner Ian Liddle said keeping the entire Houldsworth team was a top priority, both for client continuity and for a smooth handover. He called Farleys a proud Lancashire firm and said the deal helps grow its footprint in the area without losing the personal touch clients expect. Lawfront’s backing, he added, will fund further investment in staff and services.
Farleys previously bought Mulderrigs Solicitors in Rawtenstall in 2023 and Alker Ball Healds in Wigan in 2025. Lawfront chief executive Peter Martin-Simon called this its 18th acquisition overall and Farleys’ third since joining the group in 2022, welcoming Hall and her team to the wider network.
