Background-

Amy Wang, an environmental attorney at Ward and Smith, has earned a place on North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 50 Most Influential Women list for 2026. The list honors women whose leadership shapes the state’s legal, business and nonprofit communities.

Wang leads the Environmental practice at Ward and Smith. She advises individuals, businesses and local governments on permitting, regulatory matters, commercial real estate deals and environmental litigation. Her clients work in agriculture, coastal development, municipal infrastructure and real estate, and she turns complex federal and state rules into practical guidance.

Her influence reaches beyond her caseload. After several years on the Council of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section, she held successive officer roles for four years and chaired the section in 2021-2022. She also co-chaired the council’s CLE Committee, which hosted the first Tri-State Environment and Natural Resources Conference in 2018.

Wang also speaks to audiences outside the legal field. At the North Carolina Chamber’s 2024 Environmental Compliance Conference, she led a fireside chat with the director of the NCDEQ Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources. She co-chairs the Triangle ULI Coastal Committee as well.

Best Lawyers in America has listed her from 2019 through 2026. Chambers USA ranked her in Environment in 2025 and 2026, and Business North Carolina placed her in its Legal Elite Hall of Fame for Environmental Law in 2020.

The publication will honor the 2026 class on October 29, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Project 658 in Charlotte.
