Background:
Stowe Family Law has made its first move outside the UK by partnering with Australia’s Unified Lawyers, a well-known family law firm with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Queensland. This deal is a significant step for the UK firm, which now has over 90 offices and more than 400 legal professionals nationwide.
Founded in Yorkshire in 1984, Stowe Family Law specializes in family law and helps over 5,000 clients every year. Supported by investment firm Investcorp, the firm earned about £50 million in revenue last year, placing it among the top 100 law firms in the UK.
Australia was chosen as the first international market because of its strong legal system, similarities to UK regulations, and high demand for quality family law services. According to Stowe, the cultural similarities and shared client values make it an ideal location for expansion.
Ken Fowlie, Executive Chairman at Stowe Family Law, commented: “Our mission has always been to guide people through family changes with confidence and compassion. Expanding into Australia allows us to help more families while building on our reputation for empathy, expertise, and innovation. With support from Investcorp, we are growing faster and using technology to improve the client experience. Unified shares our values, and together we aim to create a more connected and caring approach to family law.”
Founded in 2014, Unified Lawyers is a fast-growing family law firm in Australia with over 60 lawyers. The partnership will give them more resources to enhance their services. A spokesperson from Unified said, “Partnering with Stowe allows us to build on our achievements, sharing values and an innovative approach to client care, while bringing local expertise to an international platform.”
Through this partnership, Unified will gain access to Stowe’s operational support, technology, and international experience, helping the firm grow further across Australia. Stowe aims to serve 10,000 clients by 2029. The partnership highlights its focus on growth, innovation, and connecting UK and Australian family law.
