Background:

Swiss legal-tech startup Omnilex has raised $4.5 million in a Seed funding round led by Founderful, as it aims to improve legal research. The platform uses free legal data and commentary to create a “reasoning environment” that helps legal professionals work faster and handle complex legal questions more effectively.

Omnilex says its system brings together laws, court decisions, and commentary in one place, helping legal teams understand cases better. The company adds that this can cut the need for costly legal databases by up to 80%, while still giving complete legal information.

Currently operational in Switzerland and Germany, Omnilex is testing its platform in the United States and several other countries. The startup’s proprietary AI system automatically annotates, interprets, and connects laws and court decisions across jurisdictions. So far, the platform has created over 200,000 legal annotations, which the company says makes it stand out in the legal research field.

The startup now serves over 120 organizations, including Bayer Pharma and the Swiss Federal Chancellery. Its annual revenue has doubled in the past three months, showing strong growth in the DACH region.

Marco Henri, Co-Founder and CEO of Omnilex, commented, “Legal commentary exists to help legal professionals understand and apply the law. Our AI-generated legal commentary allows lawyers to navigate even the most complex cases effectively. Generic AI models can’t handle these cases, but our system is designed specifically to do so.”

With Europe as its initial focus, Omnilex aims to challenge traditional legal databases while offering legal teams a more intelligent and efficient way to conduct research. Industry observers expect larger legal data providers to take note of the startup’s rapid progress.
