Background
Relativity has launched Rel Labs, an innovation center and investment branch, to drive change in legal data intelligence. The initiative will support startups, fund strategic technology partnerships, and strengthen Relativity’s developer partner community, enhancing the capabilities of its AI-powered platform, RelativityOne.
CEO Phil Saunders stated, “Relativity’s power lies in our amazing community. By combining creativity with scale, we provide solutions that enhance the practice of law and shape the future of our industry.”
Rel Labs will support legal technology companies at all stages, from early-stage innovators to experienced software vendors. Priority will be given to companies that help RelativityOne address emerging legal data challenges and expand AI and workflow capabilities.
In collaboration with The LegalTech Fund (TLTF), Rel Labs will discover and support emerging startups, providing funding, guidance, and access to a global network. TLTF co-founder Zach Posner said the partnership helps entrepreneurs scale faster and deliver real value to the legal industry.
Relativity also intends to develop its Developer Program in 2026, which will provide over 50 developer partners with clear growth opportunities. Partners will be categorized as Innovators, System Integrators, or Strategic Partners based on their role in extending RelativityOne.
Relativity Fest 2025 in Chicago, Oct. 7-9, will highlight community achievements with events like the Developer Summit, TLTF sessions, App Hub IRL, and Innovation Awards.
Rel Labs will assist Relativity in investing more in innovation, supporting startups, and expanding access to AI-driven legal solutions, and anticipates spending more than $170 million on R&D in 2025. The program will focus on improving the legal tech ecosystem that will assist companies in resolving complicated legal issues effectively and dependably.
