Background:
Harvey has teamed up with four top UK law schools to support legal education and training. The schools are Oxford University, The University of Law, King’s College London, and BPP University Law School.
John Armour, Dean at Oxford University Faculty of Law, emphasized the transformative role of AI in the legal sector. “By making generative AI tools available to our faculty members, we empower them to experiment with applying these tools in their research.
This allows us to understand AI’s capabilities and reflect on the ethical and practical implications of its use in both research and teaching,” he said.
Each institution will use Harvey’s platform based on its own goals. Oxford University will focus on research and explore new ways to enhance teaching and learning. King’s College London will teach technology and ethics through workshops and projects. BPP University Law School will use Harvey’s platform to train students for legal practice.
John Haddock, Chief Business Officer at Harvey, highlighted the significance of expanding into the UK. “Given Harvey’s partnerships with leading firms in London, extending our platform to UK law schools is a natural next step.“The UK’s legal institutions have a rich history of shaping global practice, and their adoption of modern technology in education sets an inspiring example for the profession worldwide,” he said.
The collaboration is an important step in modernizing legal education, helping future lawyers develop essential skills while focusing on ethical and practical aspects of the profession.
