As part of moves to automate the work of policemen, China’s Sichuan Province has initiated deploying humanoid robots that incorporate artificial intelligence to guide traffic in the Mianyang City. The robots have the capability to coordinate traffic movement during the 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM period, doing all this maximally and eliminating any possible cause of human mistakes. The move is aimed at integrating robotic systems in the operation of law to streamline operational activity and make driving safe on roads.

Other than humanoid robots, robotic dogs are also employed to assist SWAT officers in Mianyang. Equipped with sensors and cameras, the advanced robots are able to function in complex zones and provide instant surveillance data. The robotic dog is meant for enhanced public security, doing patrol rounds and executing tasks in the case of emergency, particularly areas where human settlement would be troublesome or hazardous.

The deployment of the robots comes as China becomes more ambitious about applying artificial intelligence and robotics technology to ordinary public service work. Application of the technology has been viewed as a means of improving the precision of law enforcement operations, easing human resource burdens, and enhancing security for the officers and public members.
