Background:
Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors has brought festive cheer this holiday season by donating more than 300 gifts, including 150 handmade twiddle muffs, in its biggest annual gift drive so far. The drive supports local care and healthcare units and helps people with dementia, vulnerable individuals, children in hospitals, and families in need.
A key part of the campaign is the twiddle muffs, knitted hand muffs with different textures that help comfort people with dementia. Designed to provide sensory stimulation and comfort, these muffs are especially valuable for people living with dementia. Each twiddle muff is knitted by firm staff throughout the year during weekly “knit and natter” sessions, with the completed items delivered personally to care homes across the region during the festive season.
The gift drive is coordinated by the firm’s dementia committee, consisting of 32 volunteers from various offices and levels of seniority, chaired by associate Sue Preece. Sue, who also serves as Chadwick Lawrence’s Dementia Champion and as a Dementia Friends Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society, has spent nearly 14 years focused on dementia care and over three decades supporting individuals and families in navigating care-related matters.
Chadwick Lawrence goes beyond giving gifts to support people with dementia. The firm offers legal help for dementia patients, including Court of Protection applications, mental capacity checks, and setting up powers of attorney. The dementia committee also runs events throughout the year for Dementia Action Week, Carers Week, and other local community projects.
Neil Wilson, Managing Partner at Chadwick Lawrence, praised the team for their efforts: “Working with individuals across West Yorkshire on a daily basis, we know the festive season can be a challenging time for many. I am incredibly proud of our team for their generosity and dedication, which will bring joy to so many in our local community this Christmas.”
This year’s gift drive shows Chadwick Lawrence’s dedication to using their legal expertise to support the community and help people with dementia and other vulnerable groups in West Yorkshire.
